A widespread problem in production plants is the number of alarms in operative DCS consoles; the new control systems allow to improve process control, but they also generate alarm’s increase.
Since, on the market, practical instruments to solve this problem lack, SARTEC grew a group of their engineers to research innovative solutions to minimize the consequences of plant upsets on profitability and to significantly improve safety and environmental impact.

The activity develops in the following phases:

  • Assessment and monitoring of alarm system performance and bad actor identification (alarm inhibit, more frequent and continuous);
  • Intervention on the found bad actors to improve the management of the alarms occurred during normal plant operation;
  • Systematic rationalization of alarm systems and results maintenance to reach improvements in the management during specific operative upsets;
  • Training on the right alarm management.
